Highlight.js
It's been a while since we decided to use GeSHi Syntax highlighting for the forums and there have been a tonne of posts since using the [code=java] BBcode tags. However its hard to hide the fact that the GeSHi Colouring scheme for Java and other regularly used languages was hard at best to read, the dark scheme against the dark theme of the forums made life harder than needed.

So the time has come for an update and that comes in the forum of Highlight.js - Highlight.js is a JavaScript framework which highlights syntax in code examples on blogs, forums and in fact on any web pages. It's very easy to use because it works automatically: finds blocks of code, detects a language, highlights it.

We're currently using the Darclua theme which is of cause from the JetBrains family of IDEs.

Usage on our forum will be as follows using the new source BBcode [src], anything inside the SRC block will be automatically highlighted by Highlight.js in the correct language due to its language detection. However you can still specify a language using the following [src=java]

For example:
Non-Specified
[SRC]/**
 * @author John Smith <[email protected]>
*/
package l2f.gameserver.model;

public abstract class L2Char extends L2Object {
  public static final Short ERROR = 0x0001;

  public void moveTo(int x, int y, int z) {
   _ai = null;
   log("Should not be called");
   if (1 > 5) { // wtf!?
     return;
   }
  }
}[/SRC]
/**
 * @author John Smith <[email protected]>
*/
package l2f.gameserver.model;

public abstract class L2Char extends L2Object {
  public static final Short ERROR = 0x0001;

  public void moveTo(int x, int y, int z) {
   _ai = null;
   log("Should not be called");
   if (1 > 5) { // wtf!?
     return;
   }
  }
}

Today I have managed to get back in contact with JetBrains to speak about an old Open Source Licence I had almost a decade ago, After a bit of back and forth with the company I have managed to yet again gain control of the licence. RuneLite
[IMG]
RuneLite is a exciting project that has made waves since its first release in May 2016, It is an open-souce collabarative project to reverse engineer the RuneScape 2 (OSRS) game Client. Headed by a small group of developers lead by a good guy known only to myself as @Adam. It has come a long way in terms of visible progress in terms of Github.

With just a love of the game and a love for Free and Open-Source projects and a nack for Reverse Engineering Java software, Adam decided to start the project and see what he could find out about the game he much loved. At the minute the Client is highly renamed as "a side-effect" according to Adam as there was no intention to just set out to rename the Client as much other projects do such as Sorry you must be logged in to read this.

though projects like chadalen's help our community progress further by enabling us to create more and more projects which stem away from the original rev.317 protocol servers and clients, Projects like RuneLite are an education open to all, as there is a community arround it which are open to helping and teaching what they know and have learned themselves.

Not to shy away from chadalen's brilliant work in the RSPS feild which IMO goes unappreciated on many a level, the RuneLite team look at their projects in a whole new light. When I asked Adam about any breakthroughs in the project he gave me statement which changes the game completely.

He told me:
