After the much intisipated release of MalwareBytes 3.0 which grouped together the best of the best MalwareBytes tools such as the Anti-Malware and Anti-Exploit the team behind the software has released an update to the program everyone who uses should download immediatly.

Malwarebytes 3.0.6 is the latest version of the popular security program for Windows that is available as a free and premium version.

of the program not too long ago. The update changed things around quite a bit, and not all for the better.

The new Malwarebytes unified the company's three individual products Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Anti-Exploit, and Anti-Ransomware into a single product. All three were available as a free version previously, but that changed with the release of the new program version.

The company pulled the standalone products, so that they could only be used from that moment on in Malwarebytes 3.0 Premium.

There were other things in Malwarebytes 3.0 that user worried about. Especially the program's memory consumption was mentioned in this regard, but users complained about the performance and the stability of the security application as well.

Malwarebytes released several versions since the initial release of Malwarebytes 3.0. All included stability and performance improvements, as well as other fixes. This is not different with today's release of Malwarebytes 3.0.6. The new version is available for free and premium users alit.

Highlights of the Malwarebytes 3.0.6.1469 release are:

    1. Malware detection and remediation improvements.
    2. Startup time improvements.
    3. Memory leaks plugged.
    4. CPU usage after scan completion reduced.
    5. Fixed issue where "Real-Time Protection turned off" notifications were displayed incorrectly.
    6. Patched several crash and blue screen issues.
    7. Fixed individual issues in Edge, Windows Insider Previews, and PowerPoint.

    is updated.

Malwarebytes addressed several issues in this new version of the software. At least some users who upgraded their version to Malwarebytes 3.0.6 are reporting that they are still experiencing issues including crashes, Access Denied Code 5 error messages during the upgrade, or that Web Protection does not start.

On a personal note: I did experience the "Real-Time Protection turned off" notification issue, and it was quite annoying. I have to monitor this more closely, but it seems indeed fixed in this release. Along with that after I resolved the problem I now get out-of-date when I have the latest databases.

Memory consumption of MBAMService.exe is still quite high, and it is not the only process that is used by the application.

As a community though I think the featured Java protection is a great highligh to this software.

It's also worth noting that those who use MBAM 2 and have a paid licence do continue to be Premium in 3 when you simply install the Free Trial from the website. Those like me who have the Lifetime subscription will remain on such a subscription regardless of the fact MBAM is only sold in year or 2 yearly subscriptions from now on.

I had several issues with this at first but it seems to have been corrected now with the latest build. I was lucky though and have 2 personal licenses for the life time licenses so keeps me happy. Both of my main computers stay protected.

I am not a fan of their new UI either and for whatever reason it doesn't open in maximized for me.I haven't witnessed any real lag or issues with it running slow or hogging resources. It still shows on my task manager that my total cpu process is never over 20% (but I do have a pretty good machine also )

I have already witnessed a few issues with certain rsps jars not going through the exploit process ( ironically it is when you are logging in not turning on the client haha )

  2. I've noticed on my Laptop that a general scan of my computer is extremely resource hungry, infact its probably mpre hungry than ram munchers like Eclipse. Which is stopping me from a daily scan routine. Overall though Im happy with the product - the way they have dropped 4 or 5 difffeent programs and made it work as an aio.

  3. this is a great product, and it also looks fantastic and works great.

  4. This might be a bit of a grave dig, sorry. Anyways, yeah I use Malwarebytes regularly and I love it, but man does it eat up CPU usage like no tomorrow. Every time I run a scan my CPU fan has to ramp up because it's suddenly being used so heavily. You can lower the usage of scans in the settings, though, it just takes longer to complete them.
