OSRS Some beginner questions

Discussion in 'Help & Requests' started by lesderid, Dec 21, 2017.

  1. I used to play with RSPS sources about ten years ago, but I forgot all of it, so I have some questions I would be very grateful for if someone could answer:

    1. Why is revision 317 so popular for RSPS?
    2. Are there any vanilla (i.e. Jagex-like) client/server sources with OSRS or at least 2007 content? I want to develop some new content, but I want to start off with a solid base that isn't full of features I don't need/want.
    3. How can I tell what revision a client/server is?
    4. What's the difference between RuneTek 3 and 3.5? Are there any open-source 3.5 clients/servers?

  2. 1. it's easy
    2. Not anything non-317 which is al good
    3. Servers should have it stored in a value somewhere, for clients it's harder to tell because you have to look at the packet id's
    4. 3.5 is OSRS 3 is old runescape revisions. There are no good ones out, you could try mine which is in the download section but it's incomplete.

  3. Thanks for the answers Bart! So you're saying there aren't really any vanilla OSRS-like (or at least 2007 RS) sources out there right now?
